It used to be call the Island Airport, or the City Center Airport. Now it is known as the great Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. This change took place on November 10, 2009.

It is named after William Avery Bishop, the top Canadian pilot from World War 1. Apparently they guy is pretty famous, as this is the second airport he has named after him. The new name is quite catchy, but a bit long. I think I’m just going to call them Pearson Airport and Bishop Airport from now on.
